ZwitterCo and Ecolab Partner to Drive Water Circularity

(Read the press release)

Ecolab, the global leader in water and infection prevention, has joined us as both an investor and a strategic partner. Together, we’ll collaborate on advanced water reuse and circularity solutions for food and beverage manufacturers – helping them treat and reuse high-strength process water and wastewater.

Here’s what the partnership means, and why it matters now.

A holistic solution for complex wastewater

The partnership integrates ZwitterCo’s filtration systems – which deploy our patented, fouling-resistant membranes – with Ecolab’s water treatment chemistry, digital monitoring, and consultative process expertise.

Together, we’re working to extract utility-grade water from wastewaters typically considered too complex and high-strength to practically treat for recycling – and the partnership has already broken ground in Mexico and Western Europe.

“Ecolab has unmatched expertise in water treatment, digital monitoring and customer operations,” said Alex Rappaport, Co-founder and CEO of ZwitterCo. “Together, we can help manufacturers turn difficult wastewater streams into reusable water.”

Why it matters: a 40% freshwater shortfall

The World Economic Forum has forecasted a 40% global freshwater shortfall by 2030, with regional scarcity straining economies further.

The partnership aims to help industries dramatically reduce their reliance on freshwater withdrawals. Through advanced recycling solutions, manufacturers can insulate themselves from a rapidly changing water landscape – across critical food & beverage industries like:

  • Brewing
  • Dairy
  • Grain processing
  • Protein processing
