Overview of Role

ZwitterCo is seeking an energetic, versatile senior partnership engineer to drive commercial partnerships where its cutting-edge membrane solutions will be integrated and distributed into fast-growing, high-impact applications including sustainable protein production, water and wastewater reuse, and nutrient recovery. This role will develop partner relationships, gather market intelligence, and ensure growth in target market segments through a consultative sales approach.

Candidates with sales or business development experience in the bioprocessing, food and beverage, industrial, wastewater, or agricultural sectors are encouraged to apply. Experience selling equipment for water, wastewater treatment, or process separations is also preferred.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Act as a missionary for ZwitterCo’s unique technology
  • Grow top-line revenue in line with agreed upon targets and goals
  • Develop a robust partnership pipeline by establishing new partner relationships through industry presentations and lunch & learns, inbound follow-up, and networking. Master ZwitterCo’s inquiry-to-partnership processes and tools
  • Establish and grow relationships with both our partners’ and end-users’ key influencers and decision-makers
  • Create end-user demand and opportunities, bolstering our partners’ reach and sales success
  • Respond promptly to partner requests and act as a valuable resource to resolve partner challenges
  • Work closely with Marketing, Technical Service, Applications Development, and Field Engineering to increase the understanding of assigned market segments and demonstrate the performance of ZwitterCo’s products to industry stakeholders
  • Implement the market strategy within assigned segments
  • Understand both partners’ and end-users’ “pain points” and maintain comprehensive knowledge about industry trends and drivers; provide market/competitive intelligence to the Marketing team
  • Understand the value our products deliver on a project level and in relation to our partners’ offerings; use techno-economic models to assess our products’ performance in various applications or process configurations
  • Serve as project manager for multi-functional demonstration efforts, coordinating with our team, partners, end users, and other vendors
  • Partner with Technical Service team to articulate partner success requirements to the Applications Development team for product testing and applications studies
  • Manage and support sales administration
  • Negotiate Contract Agreements with existing and prospective partners
  • Regularly host forecasting meetings with partners; provide regular updates and forecasts to internal sales management
  • Actively support and serve as a resource for other sales team members
  • Maintain customer data in a CRM system
  • Perform all responsibilities in an ethical manner that represents ZwitterCo’s values and vision

  • A university degree in an engineering or relevant scientific discipline is required, or a university degree in a business discipline if the candidate has extensive previous work experience in a comparable role. A degree in environmental or chemical engineering is preferred
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in sales or business development working in industrial or agricultural sectors is required. Experience with equipment for water treatment, fluid separations, solid-liquid separations is preferred
  • Competent in Microsoft Office suite and leading CRM tools, like Salesforce or HubSpot
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Schedule, Travel, Compensation, and Location

This position is based in Woburn, MA, but exceptional full-time remote workers will be considered.

This position may require moderate to extensive travel (20-40%), primarily in North America.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will include equity and benefits.
